Travel Basketball Weekly Wrap-Up
Another exciting weekend of travel hoops this weekend for all of our PVYB travel teams. Below are highlights and scores from our games.
The
3rd grade boys
team continued their winning ways this weekend going 2-0 overall. They started on Friday with a decisive 28-11 win vs Audubon. Nick Harken led all scorers with 10 while Carter Fitzgerald, William Heath and Luke Tuturice all chipped in with 4. Harken was big on the glass with 11 while Tommie Wuerstle had 7.
On Sunday, a 13-2 2nd quarter put PV ahead for good in a 30-16 defeat of Whitemarsh. Harken was leading scorer with 10 pts and 9 rebounds while Jack Staffaroni had 6 for PV.
The
4th grade girls
team stayed hot as well this weekend handing Boyertown their first loss of the regular season in a 22-10 victory on Sunday. PV jumped out to an early first quarter lead on baskets by Opal Sparling and Ava Flicker. The team set the pace for the remainder of the game by playing outstanding team defense and forcing lots of turnovers. Sparling had a season high 8 points and 9 rebounds. Alexis Vlioras chipped in 6 points while Flicker had 4 points. Meley Mussie contributed with 5 rebounds.
The
4th grade boys orange
team beat Warrington this past Saturday 25-10 at PV West Middle School. The team had a great defensive effort and Tyler Rathgeber grabbed some impressive rebounds. The offense was sparked by two great passes from Joey Keough to Chase Kelly, who led the team with 7 points.(pictured below)
In the game of the week, the defending black division champion PV
5th grade girls Orange
defeated the defending orange division champion Torresdale, 36-32 to remain undefeated. Quinn Boettinger led PV with 10 points and Grace Miley had 9. Julie Smith and Allie Matasich had 5pts and 10rebs each for PV, who dominated the glass with 58 rebs. Kathryn Harrington and Sydney Pinkerton led the defensive effort with 2 steals apiece.
The
6th grade boys orange
also picked up a terrific come from behind victory against Springfield. Down by double digits, a tremendous 4th quarter rally gave the boys a 42-36 victory. The 4th quarter press defense, led by Jake Stewart and Avery Salvi, and a big 3 from Anthony Miceli proved to be the difference. Salvi, Josh Tagert and Robbie Sturges led the offensive effort for PV.
Not to be outdone, the
6th Boys White
toppled their cross town rivals Audubon 35 - 27. The boys started off strong from the opening tip, never relinquishing the lead and playing outstanding team basketball with all ten players making a contribution. Kyle Bruce, Cole Hebling, and Paul Ciaudelli paced the offense along with Drew Kenworthy and Jackson Jones stepping up on the defensive front. (pictured on home page)
The 6th girls didn't fare as well as their counterparts however. The
6th Orange girls
