EWING UNITED SOCCER TRAVEL TRYOUTS

Ewing United Soccer is pleased to announce details regarding tryouts for our Travel Soccer program for girls and boys of all ages.

The Tryouts will be held at the following days and times:

· Boys & Girls: Wednesday, May 1 at 6:00 - 7:00 pm (ages 7-10) & 7:00 - 8:00 pm (ages 11 & up)

· Boys Only: Saturday, May 4 at 9:00am – 10:00 am (ages 7-10) & 10:00 - 11:00 am (ages 11 & up)

· Girls Only: Sunday, May 5 at 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm (ages 11 & Under)

· Boys & Girls: Tuesday, May 7 at 6:00 - 7:00 pm (ages 7-10) & 7:00 - 8:00 pm (ages 11 & up)

Each child is encouraged to make at least two of the tryout sessions. The Girls and Boys will be split into there respective genders at the tryouts.

Little Kickers Spring Soccer Training

We are glad to announce that the Little Kickers Spring Soccer Training sesssion is now in it’s fourth season! Registration is now open for all 4-7 year old boys and girls.

Program Info:

The Little Kickers Program was organized to help introduce soccer to younger players and to give continuing youth a chance to play during the spring season. The program is designed for 4-7 year olds and includes 30 minutes of foot work and ball training followed by 30 minutes of mini games. The sessions will be led by Total Soccer trainers.

Dates: Saturdays from 4/6/13 - 5/18/13

Times:

- 6 and 7 year olds will meet from 9-10am

- 4 and 5 year olds will meet from 10:15-11:15am

Cost: $70

REASONS FOR SMALL SIDED PLAY

Philosophical

Because we want our young soccer players to have more individual teaching time with the coach! Fewer players on the field will guarantee this! (Need to feel worthy…need to feel important)
Because we want to distance our young soccer players from the external undue pressures of the adult game. (eliminate extrinsic value)
Because we want our young soccer players to enjoy the game for its own sake. (foster intrinsic value)

Educational

Because we want our young soccer players to touch the soccer ball more often and become more skillful with it! (Individual technical
development)
Because we want our young soccer players to make more quality decisions during the game! (Tactical development)
Because we want our young soccer players to be more physically efficient in the field space in which they are playing! (Reduced field
size)
Because we want our young soccer players to have more involved playing time in the game! (More opportunity to solve problems that
only the game presents)
Because we want our young soccer players to have more opportunities to play on both sides of the ball! (More exposure to attacking and defending situations)
Because we want our young soccer players to have more opportunities to score goals and make saves! (Pure excitement)

The “Small-Sided” environment is a developmentally appropriate environment for our young soccer players. It’s a FUN environment that focuses on the player.

These are the reasons why US Youth Soccer endorses “Small-Sided Games” for U6, U8, U10 and U12 players across the board…across America.

Youth soccer should emphasize having fun, learning skills, and learning good
sportsmanship. Playing competitively should not be emphasized until children have
mastered the basic skills. While the object of the game is to win, children should not
be pressured to win, only to try their best.

Game Reporting Instructions

Go to www.ewingunited.com
From left side menu select "Team Directory"
On next screen Click on "your team name"
From your team page in upper right hand corner click on "Team Log-In"
Next Enter your email address and PIN (password)
You will see Welcome "your name" "Where would you like to start?: Team Scorekeeping Team Page Maintain Team Contacts Maintain Team Roster
The first time go to "Maintain Team Roster" and enter your players. Please only use first initial and last name. Gender is required but DOB and email are not. Team email list is maintained separate by West End. YOu can also get to roster by going to the team page once you log in as well.
Once roster is entered you will be able to record attendance and report scorers (required) and assists (optional).
Return to team page by clicking on the team page icon (look like two people) to right of team contact admin at top left of screen or clicking on Team Home link on top right of screen.
After your roster is entered the next time you log in you can go to "Team Scorekeeping" to enter game score.
Once both team enter score of game and it agrees then you can report the scorers, assists, comments, etc.
To report attendance, scorers, assists, etc from the Team Page go down to schedule and between home and away teams heading you will see MR for Match Report. For your game you will see either "vs" or a score. Click on which ever is present and it will take you to the Match Report for that game.
Click on Edit "team name" Match Stats/Events"
This is where you mark players IN (present) or OUT (Absent)
Once both teams scores match. The next time you go in you will have drop down boxes to report each scorer and assist.
You also can indicate Match MVP and Honorable Mention but this is not necessary.
There is space for a match recap that you can use to report Goalies and anything else.
