Overview
Travel soccer is for players (and their families) interested in developing their abilities beyond the recreational level through hard work and a commitment to increased levels of soccer training and competition.
Travel soccer involves playing games outside our club in New Jersey based travel leagues, with home matches on Ewing United Soccer Association (EUSA) fields located throughout the Township. Away matches are played against competitive clubs throughout the New Jersey area.
As a general rule EUSA forms new travel teams in the spring of each year through open tryouts typically scheduled in the late April or early May timeframe. Teams are formed for both boys and girls from ages U-8 up to high school age groups. We also have recently established a developmental program that delivers training and scrimmages/local game play for youth in the 7-year old age range.
The travel team year begins on August 1 and runs through July 30 of the following year. The team is selected for a one-year (12 month) commitment. This may include summer camp, pre-season fall trainings, the fall season, the winter season and the spring season. Age groups for the children are based on the player’s age during the August to July travel calendar (see below Age Group Chart).
The fall, winter and spring season typically consist of 10 game seasons. Each 10 game season typically consists of 5 home games and 5 away games, with the exception being winter indoor where all games are typically played at a nearby indoor specific soccer facility. Generally speaking away games are within a 30 – 60 minute drive although there are a few exceptions.
There is also the potential for travel to local, regional, or out-of-state tournaments depending on the interests of the parents, coaches, and players of individual teams.
